I am exploring the skill needs of organisations for AI, and how Universities are supporting this with their current teachings.
Why this research?
Digital transformation and artificial intelligence are currently major trends in the business world. A 2023 report by Deloitte stated that the potential digitisation of the Fortune 500 companies had the potential to increase their capitalisation value by 1.25 trillion US dollars. Such tantalising prizes have seen businesses across all types of industries embrace the undertaking of DX and AI programmes.
However, organisational digital transformations can be complex and expensive endeavours.
The business world would benefit if higher education entities were to prepare graduates who are better equipped with knowledge on how to support digital transformation programmes.
Thus, the purpose of my research will be to investigate and propose, if necessary, how universities can deliver the graduates that industry needs to undertake their AI ambitions.
1. Identify the critical skills and areas of expertise that organisations consider as necessary for their digital transformation programmes.
2. Identify the skills and knowledge gaps of organisations are facing with their digital transformation programmes.
And since the solution to addressing these gaps may be with European governments;
3. Identify possible ways by which governments can support organisations with their skills and knowledge gaps around digital transformation
